In her words

A semester abroad, and what it built

During my semester abroad in London, I joined The Lede Company as a Brand Intern. Working alongside the London team, I supported communications initiatives for multiple consumer brands while gaining firsthand experience in a fast-paced agency environment. The internship offered a window into how communication strategies move from planning to execution — successful campaigns are built on organization, collaboration, and strong professional relationships long before they ever reach the public.

Strategy behind the runway

London Fashion Week offered a unique opportunity to observe large-scale communications efforts in real time. Beyond the runway, I saw how months of preparation came together through media coordination, creator engagement, and collaboration across multiple stakeholders. The communications work was built on preparation, responsiveness, and strong relationships.

Relationships in the room

Press Day provided another perspective on strategic communications. Editors, stylists, and creators interacted with upcoming collections while the agency coordinated logistics and supported client objectives behind the scenes. Observing those interactions demonstrated how thoughtful planning and long-term relationship management contribute to successful communications.

Where this experience leads

Although my work centered on consumer brands, the experience reinforced that the part of communications I enjoy most isn't tied to one particular industry. I found myself most engaged by the strategic side — helping organizations communicate effectively, building strong professional relationships, and supporting thoughtful decision-making.

What I didn't expect was how much it would shape the way I think about communications as a profession.
